Carrie Kenner Social Justice Works! Scholarship Fund
My first memories as a child are scenes where I recognized the unjust ways in which people of color and poor people were treated. Had I been equipped with any skills, I would have spoken out against what I saw. Without those skills, I simply gravitated to them as my friends. I was a quiet and introspective girl until I hit my teens – and then I started to rock my inner advocate. I’ve been learning about systems of oppression and advocating for racial and social justice ever since. As a white person with privilege, I’m continually learning how to reject privilege, share privilege, or leverage my privilege for folks who are oppressed.
The Carrie Kenner Social Justice Works! Scholarship fund awards partial scholarships for doula training fees to students who demonstrate a desire to address social and racial justice through their doula work. Scholarships can be used with any of my birth doula trainings (enCircle, 4-day intensives, or the Sacred Doula Training). Contact me for an application.
Scholarship applications must be submitted at least two weeks before the start of the doula training. Check the calendar for upcoming dates. Late applications will be accepted on a space-available basis.
Scholarships are funded by me personally as one way in which I serve my community and create social change. If you’d like to contribute to the scholarship fund, please donate here. While I’m not a non-profit, therefore your donation is not tax-deductible, your donation will truly keep on giving – one trained doula can support hundreds of families in their lifetime. You support one doula AND all the families they will ever serve! Wow – Thank you!
