TENS Unit Training
TENS Unit for Use in Labor is an Advanced Doula Training on the Safe and Effective Use of TENS to Reduce Pain in Labor.
TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a common tool long used to help with the pain of childbirth across Europe. Learn how to add this tool/skill to your birth bag and help your clients to reduce labor pain, especially the pain of back labor. Get a chance to try a unit on yourself, learn the proper protocols on safe use, how to introduce it to your clients and their providers, and purchase your own unit for use with your clients after the training.
Obstetric TENS has been found to be an effective technique for pain control in over 80 percent of births. Many studies have been done in Europe with marked success, especially for back pain in labor. This is a great addition to your labor support skill set and will increase client satisfaction and reduce pain, quickly becoming one of your favorite methods for helping your clients cope and handle childbirth pain, especially that dreaded back labor!
TENS units and extra TENS stimulating pads are available for pre-order to be delivered at the training. A limited number of units may be available for purchase the day of the training. If you are interested in purchasing a TENS Unit or electrodes, please contact Carrie.
