Rebozo Uses in Pregnancy & Birth

TENS UNIT FOR USE IN LABOR (2.5 DONA
Contact Hours)
TENS Unit for Use in Labor is an Advanced Doula
Training on the Safe and Effective Use of TENS to Reduce Pain in Labor.
TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a common tool long
used to help with the pain of childbirth across Europe. Learn how to add
this tool/skill to your birth bag and help your clients to reduce labor
pain, especially the pain of back labor. Get a chance to try a unit on
yourself, learn the proper protocols on safe use, how to introduce it to
your clients and their providers, and purchase your own unit for use with
your clients after the training.
Obstetric TENS has been found to be an effective
technique for pain control in over 80 percent of births. Many studies have
been done in Europe with marked success, especially for back pain in labor.
This is a great addition to your labor support skill set and will increase client
satisfaction and reduce pain, quickly becoming one of your favorite methods
for helping your clients cope and handle childbirth pain, especially that
dreaded back labor!
Please wear clothing that allows exposure
of your waist/lower back so that you can try the TENS unit on yourself
during our session.
Lady TENS units and extra TENS
electrode pads are available for pre-order to be delivered at the training. A very limited number of units may be
available for purchase the day of the training. If you are
interested in purchasing a TENS Unit or electrodes, please
contact Carrie.

Rebozo Uses in Pregnancy and Birth
(3.75 DONA Contact Hours)
This hands-on session will introduce new and experienced doulas to
the many uses of the Rebozo in pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
The workshop will include an introduction to the importance of movement and
energy in birth,
specific uses of the rebozo to encourage optimal fetal positioning, and
considerations for using the rebozo in different settings.
We will explore how the rebozo can relieve common pregnancy
discomforts, enhance relaxation in labor, provide support for specific
positions, be used to help the pelvis move, and even cure a headache. Come
prepared to get on the floor and experience both ends of the Rebozo in
practice. Illustrated handouts will help you remember all you learn once
you return home.
Participants should bring a birth ball, and their own rebozo if they already
own one.
Please wear clothing that allows for comfortable moving, squatting,
bending, and lying down during our session.
