What to bring
Bedding/towels, flashlight, water bottle, clock, lots of layers of
clothes, walking shoes, rain gear, and caffeinated beverages if you want
them.
For comfort in the classroom, you may also bring a yoga mat, pillow,
and/or birth ball (also known as exercise or physio-ball).
While snow is very unlikely in September, do check the current weather
conditions and weather forecast and bring traction devices for your vehicle
if snow is possible.
What not to bring
Pets, burnables (candles, incense), electric devices (hairdryers, curling
irons, coffee makers), recreational drugs or alcohol.
Please do not use perfume, cologne or scented toiletries.
There is no public phone use at Breitenbush
Due to very limited capacity public phone access is for Emergency Use only.
Breitenbush is out of cellular phone range. Please make all necessary phone calls from
Detroit on your way in.
Wheelchair Accessibility
Breitenbush has a very limited number of wheelchair accessible rooms and cabins.
The workshop spaces in the lodge are accessible by ramp. However, our
unpaved paths are narrow and sometimes steep. Access to bathing areas
requires mobility. An assistant or companion is highly recommended.
Sample schedule
Note: In general, the energy of the Red Tent is used for Community
Time and Quiet Time. Community Time - time for talking, gathering,
sharing, activities - is in the morning until lunch time. Quiet Time -
time for meditation, art, reading, reflection - is in the afternoon, between
lunch and dinner times. Evening times after dinner return once again
to Community Time. The schedule below reflects special activities
scheduled for us in the Red Tent or on the Breitenbush grounds. For
events marked with a
